UBC to Co-Host the WACUBO 2019 Annual Conference

Are you looking for a fantastic opportunity to build your professional network with colleagues at UBC and beyond? The 2019 WACUBO Annual Conference (Western Association of College and University Business Officers) is being held in Vancouver, and UBC is proud to be co-hosting the event along with Simon Fraser University.

Since 1937, WACUBO has offered business officers from Canada, the United States, and Mexico opportunities for professional development and a forum for identifying solutions to issues affecting higher education. The 2019 international conference will be held from May 5 to 9 at the Hotel Vancouver, and will be of interest to members of the UBC community who are responsible for business operations within their units.

If you’re interested in attending, you’ll need to become a WACUBO member in the UBC Vancouver group (UBC Okanagan will need their own membership, as campus memberships are required). Contact Holly Rail at holly.rail@ubc.ca to have your name added.

The planning committee is also looking for a talented Volunteer Services Coordinator to recruit 35-40 volunteers on behalf of UBC. The successful candidate will:

  • Attend planning meetings with the WACUBO Host Committee – a large, talented, and passionate team with decades of combined experience
  • Enlist volunteers to help set-up and take down during the conference, working with a representative from SFU (note that a Volunteer Lead on the committee will assign and train these volunteers)
  • Receive a wealth of support from the planning team and enjoy an incredibly rewarding opportunity

Anyone interested in this opportunity should contact Tammy Brimner at tammy.brimner@ubc.ca.
