The VPFO is pleased to congratulate Janice Weigel on her new role as UBC’s Senior Director, Strategic and Operational Performance. This new position will be accountable for strategic assessment, recommendations, and plans to drive continuous improvement. Reporting to university Treasurer Yale Loh, Janice will initially work across the VPFO to analyze key operational performance metrics and determine how we can create and deliver synergies, both structurally and operationally. As time goes on she will take on additional responsibilities for continuous improvement across UBC.
Janice brings 23 years of experience leading high-performance teams for both public and government entities, and is passionate about effectiveness, working collaboratively, and connecting the dots between strategy and implementation. She will move into this new role from her current position as Superintendent Business Services and Informatics within UBC’s Building Operations Department, where she has served as a strategic leader in core continuous improvement planning projects, such as Planon.
Janice strives to build inclusive communities and to support those in need. She has volunteered with a variety of organizations, including Big Sisters, the SPCA, and the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program. In her spare time she likes to take on challenges that push her personal capabilities, including completing endurance ultra-marathons and long distance cycling adventures with her husband.
