What does Pink Shirt Day mean to you, VPFO?
In 2018, the people of UBC’s Building Operations Department got together to celebrate Pink Shirt Day as a department-wide event. They gathered for cake and coffee in their UBC-branded pink shirts and kicked off over a year of conversations and learning about respect, anti-bullying and equity, diversity and inclusion.
In 2019 they hosted the event again and spread the invitation to other VPFO departments to join them in celebration. And in 2020 they expanded again to invite the entire VPFO portfolio to be part of one event.
To capture the spirit of inclusion, in 2019 we worked with our partners at UBC Studios to create a video which captures some of the excitement. This video was played for all staff at the 2020 event.
