Holly Shepherd joins UBC as Tax Manager

Holly is joining the Treasury group as the university’s new Tax Manager, supporting the community with advising for tax-related matters, as well as general oversight of UBC’s tax strategies.

Holly joins us from Stemcell Technologies, where she was the tax manager for their global group of companies for the past two years.  While there, Holly oversaw everything from Canadian and US corporate tax, to transfer pricing and indirect tax audits, to the SR&ED claim, as well as the complexities of US sales tax. Her experience also includes serving as the senior tax accountant at rail tour company Rocky Mountaineer, and various positions with the big four firms.

Holly received her Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in Australia while articling at Ernst & Young in Perth.  She also sits on the board of the Monitor Conservation Research Society, which specializes in the research of illegal and unsustainable wildlife trade.

Outside of work you’ll find Holly hiking in the mountains, cycling, and tending to her plants. She is also an avid skier and attempts to play the guitar in her spare time.
