Sandy Zarka promoted to Manager, VPFO Administration

Effective September 24, 2020, Sandy Zarka has been promoted Manager, VPFO Administration. Reporting to Peter Smailes, and continuing to serve as his executive assistant, Sandy will help lead the implementation of the VPFO’s strategic plan by delivering on operational excellence across our administrative functions. By centralizing the administration function, Sandy will lead a more consistent and efficient support and prioritization of administrative work, improve workload balance and planning of new work — including department project coordination support — and provide new opportunities for our administrative team members.

Sandy joined UBC in 2018 after 12 years with Air France, including 8 years as a customer relations expert for business class passengers at Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport, the second busiest airport in Europe, and 4 years as executive assistant to the AVP Marketing in Air France HQ in Paris. She holds a Bachelor degree in English from Université Paris 8 and has been a consistent life-long learner who recently completed her certification in digital marketing and an introduction to Project Management.

A self-described geek by nature, Sandy loves Marvel and Dr. Who, and participated in FanExpo Vancouver earlier this year selling “geeky” crafts.
