UBC’s National Forum on Anti-Asian Racism: Why are allies important?

To raise awareness of UBC’s National Forum on Anti-Asian Racism in Canada on June 10 and 11, UBC has created a series of videos where prominent Asian Canadians and allies share their perspectives on anti-Asian racism.

Dr. Victor Ling, President and Scientific Director of the Terry Fox Research Institute, who grew up as an immigrant kid, reflects on the importance of allies in the work against anti-Asian racism.

Being an ally is an ongoing journey, and it is hard work. Ask questions and stay open to listening, watching, and learning. If you’re interested in learning about how to equip yourself with the right tools and understanding as an ally to effect real change, we encourage you to read our article on how to be an effective ally

Stay engaged with the VPFO EDI program and keep learning how we can make a more equitable, diverse and inclusive UBC.
