Allen Amyotte

Interim Chief Enterprise Risk & Assurance Officer

Allen leads the Enterprise Risk & Assurance (ERA) division at UBC, which oversees Enterprise Risk Management, Advisory, Assurance, and Financial Fraud Risk Management for the university. He reports functionally to the Audit Committee and administratively to the VP Finance & Operations. Allen joined UBC in April of 2023 as the Director of Internal Assurance and has over 30 years of experience working in operational and internal audit roles in both the public and private sector. 

Prior to joining UBC, Allen was the Executive Director of Internal Audit & Enterprise Risk Management at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, and was the Director for Internal Audit & Enterprise Risk Management at the University of Calgary, where he  transformed the department from a traditional compliance function to a risk-based, data-driven group who provided significant advisory support to a maturing research university. 

During his time at Alberta Health Services, he oversaw the capital and operating finance functions and introduced zero-based budgeting and activity-based costing to support budgets in excess of $1B. He also held roles at WestJet Airlines and TransAlta Corporation after leaving Meyers Norris Penny (MNP) in 1996. 

Allen holds an honours baccalaureate degree in liberal arts from the University of Saskatchewan. Allen is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and holds a Certification in Risk Management Assessment (CRMA). He is also a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
