Communications Workshops

In our Internal Communications survey fall 2017, people across the VPFO rated project and people updates, collaboration opportunities, and the chance to share achievements, challenges, issues as the top three topics that they would most like to hear about from their VPFO portfolio peers. In response, VPFO Communications invited people who produce content across the VPFO portfolio to participate in a regular series of brand workshops. Keep your eye on VPFO News for dates and times.

Brand Workshop: November 2019

Writing to reach your audience can sometimes be challenging. Whether you’re writing a notification to send out through email, compiling reports, or newsletter content to reach a broad audience, there are best practices to improve how we connect with our readers. In this session, we shared communications projects that align and support the VPFO Strategic Plan, and tips on writing effective headlines, subject lines, key messages, and making your message easier to digest.

Brand Workshop: May 2019

UBC forums, surveys, and polling are some of the mechanisms available on campus to help us capture insight from the UBC community. In this session, we shared updates on VPFO communications projects and initiatives, we discussed the various marketing intelligence programs at UBC – how some of these mechanisms are used, and how data is translated into strategic and actionable insights.

Brand Workshop: November 2018

Websites and GatherContent were two hot topics discussed at the VPFO brand session in November 2018. This semi-annual session is a great opportunity to connect and share ideas with peers outside your unit, and learn more about what’s happening within the VPFO portfolio.

Brand Workshop: April, 2018

The VPFO brand session provides content producers in each unit with a better understanding of the UBC brand, opportunities to connect and share ideas, explores tools and templates they can use, and expands our capacity to connect to the Central Brand and Marketing team as we develop new tools and collateral.
