Moving forward together
Happy August, I hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far!
As promised in my last update, I’m committed to providing our CFO portfolio with regular updates as we continue moving forward together.
Over the past month, I’ve been listening closely to your feedback, questions, and concerns. I recognize that the amount of transition we’ve experienced recently has not been easy, and I appreciate your openness, patience, and continued willingness to work through this together.
One of my goals for this year is building and strengthening a respectful and high-performing culture that supports employee experience, safety, inclusion, connection, and trust. Culture is certainly not something we can create through a single initiative or message. It’s built over time through continuous engagement and our everyday actions — how we work together and how we show up for each other, and whether it’s making the effort to connect with colleagues in person or bringing positivity and support to the workplace. We have added new connection forums including a CFO Town Hall, an M&P forum, leader connections, as well as setting the expectation that everyone has 1:1 meetings with their direct supervisor, and team meetings on a regular cadence. These everyday habits and connection points all contribute to the culture we strive to create.
We are having intentional conversations about how we create more opportunities for leaders and teams to connect, build relationships, and develop stronger working relationships. We are also looking at ways to reshape our meetings to create more space for sharing ideas, meaningful feedback, and open, honest conversations. This includes building stronger feedback loops and holding ourselves and each other accountable to listen, having difficult conversations when needed, and continuing learning and improving together. We will be creating a CFO-specific workplace committee as a standing forum for feedback and input, as well as to help build out our activities supporting culture.
Culture is also bigger than any one person and needs all of our efforts to make it what we want. We are working with Central HR to offer VPFO cohorts of Emerging Leaders, Leaders in Development, Management Fundamentals, and other core offerings — stay tuned for more information about these opportunities this Fall. I am committed to doing this work together and to commit the time and resources to build trust and strengthen our culture.
Thank you for everything you do and for the care and commitment you continue to bring to the portfolio. We’re all part of this together, and each of us has an important role in creating a workplace and culture where we feel connected, supported, and proud to be part of the team.
