Welcome to the VP Finance & Operations portfolio


We are responsible for the stewardship of UBC’s physical and financial assets, as well as safety, risk management, and assurance across our university community.

The portfolio oversee a $3.98 billion budget, a $3.38 billion endowment, and all facilities on both campuses, as well as managing the university’s relationships with UBC Investment Management and UBC Properties Trust. In all the portfolio’s responsibilities, we are committed to the values of innovation, unity and accountability.

  • Statement on passing of Robert H. Lee

    It is with deep sadness and a great sense of loss that we learned of the passing of Dr. Robert (Bob) H. Lee, CM, OBC, former Chancellor of UBC and Chairman of UBC Properties Trust on February 19, 2020.

  • 2019/2020 Year End Schedule Now Available

    The university’s fiscal year end of March 31, 2020, is fast approaching, and similar to prior years UBC’s financial teams have collaborated on a schedule to support the university community in closing out the fiscal year for accounting purposes.

  • T4/T4A statements are now available online

    UBC issues tax slips online as PDFs that are identical to the printed form, and are accepted by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) when filing your taxes.

    This year, Pink Shirt Day is February 26 and the VPFO will be celebrating diversity and inclusion in our portfolio with cake and coffee events for our entire team.

  • Shannon Boychuk joins Safety & Risk Services in the position of Manager, Insurance & Loss Prevention

    Shannon will be responsible for the management of the university’s comprehensive insurance portfolio and will act as the leader and key expert with respect to insurance policies
