Safety & Risk Services (SRS) supports all areas of UBC in the identification, mitigation, and management of a broad range of risks.
SRS empowers faculty members, researchers, staff members and students to manage and mitigate risks on UBC’s campuses. The unit also assists the UBC Executive Team with the incorporation of risk management into the university’s governance and operations.
As a service department, SRS provides expertise and leadership to university units through education, training, and advice. In return, SRS relies on those units to help identify and assess risks in their local areas, support the development and delivery of programs, and comply with regulations and legislation.
SRS is comprised of experts in environmental protection, occupational, and research health and safety, emergency and crisis management, insurance and loss prevention, personal information security, and campus security.
SRS also provides support for UBC to comply with provincial and federal legislation and regulations.
