Transformation & Strategy

The Transformation & Strategy division is part of the VPFO’s commitment to advancing UBC’s financial maturity, driving key strategic initiatives, and ensuring long-term operational sustainability. 

The team is leading the VPFO through a variety of transformation initiatives to modernize our financial functions by strengthening transparency and improving efficiency, while ensuring alignment with the university’s strategic goals. In collaboration with partners across UBC, including UBC IT and Strategic Decision Support (SDS), they deliver projects that streamline processes, enhance financial efficiency, capitalize on technology, and enable a sustainable future for the university. 

In addition, the team oversees the VPFO’s strategic initiatives, from the formulation of objectives to the execution and monitoring of performance indicators. Their work is central to driving meaningful change and advancing the VPFO’s collective vision. 

Given the cross-functional nature and university-wide impact of its mandate, Transformation & Strategy reports to the Vice-President Finance & Operations with a dotted line to the Provost & Vice-President, Academic. This shared strategic resource strengthens UBC’s financial expertise and ensures the university has the data-driven insights needed to support informed decision-making across both portfolios.
