Leadership change in the VP Finance and Operations

After nearly two and a half years leading our Comptroller’s group, Helen Yung has decided to move on from the university in pursuit of new opportunities and personal goals. While we will miss Helen, we wish her every success as she embarks on this next chapter.

Helen’s team and partners have valued her unwavering commitment to supporting UBC through an evolving financial context. We will personally miss her steady council and thoughtful expertise, and I’m grateful that Helen will remain in her role until the end of the fiscal year (Mar 31, 2026) to see us through the 2026/27 budget process and support us in a smooth transition.

While we will miss Helen’s leadership, we’re excited to continue building on the foundation she has helped create. As part of broader Finance Transformation initiatives, and the ongoing realignment of our operations, the position will be thoughtfully evaluated to ensure it is best structured to support UBC’s evolving needs. We intend to embark on a recruitment process for a successor as soon as possible.

Please join me in thanking Helen for her many contributions to UBC. I look forward to celebrating her time with us before she moves on to her next achievements.
