Chief Enterprise Risk & Assurance Officer
Maggie leads the Enterprise Risk & Assurance (ERA) division at UBC, which oversees Enterprise Risk Management, Advisory, Assurance, and Financial Fraud Risk Management for the university. She reports functionally to the Audit Committee of the Board and administratively to the Vice-President, Finance & Operations. She provides strategic leadership to UBC’s internal assurance (IA) and enterprise risk management (ERM) functions, ensuring they align with the university’s strategic goals and evolving needs. Maggie joined UBC in April of 2025, bringing nearly two decades of leadership in governance, enterprise risk management, and internal audit, providing innovative, value-based advice to senior leaders across diverse sectors.
Maggie has a proven track record in building and leading robust ERM and IA programs. Most recently, she served as AVP Internal Audit at Peoples Group, where she established and led the advisory function within Internal Audit, enhancing the organization’s governance, risk, and control practices. Prior to that, she led the Enterprise Risk Management function at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), successfully building and implementing BCIT’s ERM Program.
Known for her strategic thinking, deep business acumen, and ability to create practical solutions to complex organizational challenges, Maggie is an empathetic and influential leader who inspires teams through her vision and commitment to making a difference. She holds an MBA in Strategic Management from McGill University and has certifications in internal audit (CIA) and risk management assurance (CRMA).
