Rae Ann Aldridge

Executive Director, Safety & Risk Services

Rae Ann is responsible for Safety and Risk Services at UBC. In this capacity she supports the identification, assessment and management of all types of risk across the organization. She oversees the security of all our campuses, providing students, faculty and staff members with a safe environment in which to pursue excellence in research and learning.

UBC Lean Six Sigma Certified White Belt Certification badgeShe brings significant safety and security leadership to UBC from her previous role as the Associate Vice-President, Risk with the University of Calgary, which she held for five years. During her tenure, the University of Calgary was recognized as Canada’s Safest Employer by Canadian Occupational Safety magazine, and she was personally recognized by the same magazine as Safety Leader of the Year in 2018.

Her work experience includes over 25 years in diverse health and safety roles. She was employed as a regulator with WorksafeBC, and has held several senior positions in health care, municipal and consultancy organizations across Canada.

Rae Ann is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and received a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Ryerson University. She is a regular contributor at conferences and has been an active participant for a number of organizations including CAUBO (Canadian Association of University Business Officers), which presented her with the Emerging Leader award in 2016.
