Yale Loh
Treasurer
Yale is responsible for overseeing treasury and strategic financial planning and analysis functions for all UBC campuses and locations. This includes responsibility for cash and debt management and business contract management, as well as the strategic direction and leadership support of financial liquidity, capital project financial analysis, corporate borrowing, cash management, financial projects management, tax, leases, payment card industry compliance, and revenue accounting.
Yale also oversees UBC’s $2.8 billion endowment, and led the development of UBC’s responsible investing framework, which includes a commitment to divest of fossil fuel investments and achieve a 45% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030, together with the publication of UBC’s first Task Force for Climate Related Financial Disclosure report.
Yale has over 30 years of capital markets and corporate experience. He joined UBC from Aritzia, where he served as Treasurer and previously held progressively senior roles with Finning International, Capital Power Corporation, and BC Hydro.
Yale is an active member of the community and currently is a member of the Blueshore Financial Board of Directors. He previously was a member of the Finance Committee at West Point Grey academy, on the Board at Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver, a member of the United Way of Lower Mainland cabinet, and a coach with various community youth sports teams.
Yale is a commerce graduate from UBC and earned his Masters in Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Yale also holds his Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Professional Accountant designations.
