The VP Finance & Operations portfolio consists of nine highly-integrated divisions. While each has a defined purpose, all our divisions work cohesively to deliver exceptional service to the university.
Finance
Finance delivers on UBC’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency. Through its three units, Finance shares the University’s financial story, manages its cash, capital, contracts and compliance requirements, and runs the campus responsibly.
Comptroller
The UBC Comptroller manages financial support across the University, and delivers key financial data and reporting to stakeholders.
Finance & Integrated Services
Finance & Integrated Services provides leadership, vision, strategy, and direction for the university’s Financial Operations functions, as well as co-leading the Integrated Service Centre (ISC) with the Chief Information Officer.
Treasury
Treasury not only manages UBC’s assets, liabilities, and risks, but also administers key fiscal programs and processes.
Facilities
UBC Facilities
UBC Facilities is responsible for full lifecycle stewardship of all academic and administrative buildings, public realm, and utility assets on the UBC Vancouver (Point Grey) campus; and facilities planning and development services for other UBC sites and campuses.
Okanagan Group
UBC’s Okanagan campus’s rapid growth in a unique environment requires dedicated care and attention. Our Okanagan-focused finance and operations unit ensures UBC Okanagan can grow while maintaining strong coordination between all UBC campuses.

UBC’s operations and advising units help UBC by aligning the operations of the university and its strategic plan, building and supporting the people of the VPFO to keep the portfolio moving forward, on mission, and maintaining a rigorous standard for protecting the university’s health, safety, and environment.

Safety & Risk Services identifies, assesses and addresses strategic, academic, operational, financial and reputational risks at UBC.
Enterprise Risk & Assurance
Enterprise Risk and Assurance was created to integrate the previously separated Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Audit functions of the University in order to deliver greater value by coordinating these important functional areas.
VPFO Communications & Engagement
VPFO Communications works to positively position the portfolio and its constituent departments within UBC and its community, and to facilitate the movement of operational and strategic information
VPFO Human Resources
The VPFO HR team consistently delivers strategic and operational business partner support for the VPFO and promote UBC’s people practices.
Subsidiaries
The VP Finance & Operations is UBC’s link, though board directorships, to several wholly-owned, independent business units who manage key investment portfolios for the university.
UBC Investment Management
UBC Investment Management is responsible for investing UBC’s Endowment Fund, the Staff Pension Plan, the Sustainable Future Pool and other UBC funds. UBC Investment Management’s goal is to ensure that all portfolios are managed to maximize investment returns commensurate with the distinct liquidity needs, risk parameters and other short and long-term objectives of each fund.
UBC Properties Trust (UBCPT)
UBC Properties Trust assists UBC, through optimization of land assets to achieve the academic and community goals by: servicing and marketing lands for residential development, developing, leasing, and property management of Village Gates Homes (Staff and Faculty Rentals) and Wesbrook Properties, development, leasing, and property management of an office and retail portfolio, analyzing projects as requested by UBC, project managing the construction of institutional projects, leading the community development and marketing for Wesbrook Place.
