Changes in the VPFO HR team

We are pleased to announce a number of positive changes on the VPFO Human Resources team. To help you navigate these changes and understand the roles and assigned departments of our team members, we have prepared a service map.

Gregor MacDonald promoted to HR Advisor

Gregor was born and raised in southern Ontario but fell in love with Vancouver in 2009 and made it his home in 2010.

Gregor brings over 15 years of direct post-secondary experience and 10 years of HR experience formerly with the University of Guelph and Vancouver Community College. In his most recent HR Coordinator position within the VPFO, Gregor expanded his HR skills in many areas, including the EDI and FOI Champion initiatives.

Gregor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice & Public Policy and Sociology (dual specialization) from the University of Guelph and is actively working on his CPHR designation.

Carlea Cardero joins as HR Advisor

Carlea has over five years of HR experience, including her most recent position as an HR Business Partner with Loblaw Companies Limited. She is a UBC Alumna with a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences, with a Minor in Asian Studies. After graduating, she went on to obtain a post-graduate diploma in Human Resources Management at BCIT.

Outside of work, Carlea enjoys traveling, visiting museums, watching sports, and going for walks.

Amelia Libonao becomes permanent HR Coordinator

Amelia is returning to UBC from when she was an HR Assistant in 2012 supporting the School of Population and Public Health, and the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine departments under the Faculty of Medicine. Prior to coming back to UBC, Amelia worked at the City of Surrey for nearly five years supporting the Engineering and Community & Recreation Service teams.

Amelia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics, as well as a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and is a member of the CHRP in British Columbia.

In her free time, Amelia enjoys playing board games, reading, and designing charcuterie boards.
