Strengthening project and data management across the VPFO and UBC

We are pleased to introduce the new position of Executive Director, Transformation & Strategy, which will drive UBC’s finance transformation by developing a strategic financial planning and analysis framework aimed at enhancing financial efficiency and modernizing our approach. This role will also oversee the VPFO strategy, goals, and objectives, including the development and implementation of our strategic plan. In addition, the Executive Director will collaborate closely with the Integrated Service Centre (ISC) to implement the university’s finance data and reporting strategy. Reporting directly to Frank Laezza, VP, Finance & Operations, this role will join the VPFO Senior Leadership Team and work closely with senior leaders across the university to advance UBC’s long-term financial vision.

To complement this transition, we are also announcing the new role of Senior Director, Financial Business Intelligence. This role, based within the Comptroller’s team, will lead the university’s Financial Business Intelligence unit and establish a financial data analytics centre of excellence within the VPFO. Working closely with the Comptroller’s leadership team and the Integrated Service Centre (ISC), this role will play a key part in implementing UBC’s finance data and reporting strategy. By transforming our approach to financial business information, the Senior Director will drive improvements in planning, operational performance, and decision-making to support UBC’s financial priorities.
