On April 26, a senseless attack at the Lapu-Lapu Day festival in Vancouver left many in our city and across the country heartbroken.
As part of UBC’s broader community response, the university is offering additional mental health and counselling supports. Within the VPFO, we want to ensure you know that support is close at hand should you need it:
- On-site counselling: A grief counsellor will be available today for drop-in sessions between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. at CIRS 3357 (2260 West Mall). If needed, your manager or supervisor can confidentially connect you with support during your shift.
- Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP): Confidential counselling and mental health resources are available to all UBC employees and their families. More information is available here: EFAP and Mental Health Resources.
At this difficult time, I encourage everyone to prioritize care, compassion, and connection.
On behalf of the VPFO Leadership Team, we extend our deepest condolences to all who are mourning, and we stand with everyone who is grieving.
