MOA Great Hall Renewal project is coming together
Over the last 6 months, the Museum of Anthropology (MOA): Great Hall Renewal project team has been working on foundations, pre-cast and cast in place structures. Once the structure has been completed, skylights and vertical glazing will be ready for installation to enclose the renewed Great Hall.
Newly installed Musqueam art pieces at Henry Angus Building
Facilities recently coordinated the installation of three Musqueam Art pieces created by Susan Point, a Coast Salish artist from Musqueam and a First Nation in Vancouver, British Columbia, in the atrium of the Henry Angus Building.
Mônica Da Silva joins Infrastructure Development as Data Systems Administrator, Capital Projects
Monica will be taking on the administration of the project reporting systems for Project Services, Capital Project Accounting and Capital Planning. She comes from Brazil where she worked as a Database Analyst for the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Sao Luis, and the Federal University of Ceará.

UBC’s transition out of the COVID-19 pandemic
As of today (May 15), the university has disestablished the COVID-19 Campus Rules which provided vital guidance for our community during the pandemic. In addition, previous COVID-19 resources such as the main websites, FAQS and signage will be removed or replaced with information to support our community around communicable disease prevention.
Successful bike recovery: a collaboration between Campus Security, partners and the community
A success story of a good samaritan working with Campus Security and partners to recover a stolen bike. To tackle bike theft on campus, UBC has partnered with Project 529, a community-based bike registration and recovery service. It only takes five minutes to enter your bike’s information in UBC’s 529 Garage!
Monitoring UBC’s hot water district energy system for leaks
The Academic District Energy System (ADES) is fitted with a leak detection system which alarms against both hot water and ground water leaks through a protective insulation jacket. The system is monitored 24/7 by the Facilities team and enables the team to respond quickly and address leak repair prior to a catastrophic interruption.
Safety & Risk Services’ PrISM welcomes three new Lead Advisor, Information Security Compliance
Jack Wong, Tom Powers, and Jeff de Castro joins PrISM as part of the Compliance Support Program. In their new role, they will each be taking on various challenges and find areas of improvement to support UBC’s mission as a world class teaching, learning and research university

UBC Power House will begin preparation for demolition in early June 2023
In early June, the UBC Power House will begin preparation for demolition for the development of the new UBC Sauder School of Business expansion. During this project, there will be various levels of disruption and road closures.
