Celebrating Lean Six Sigma Yellow and Green Belt graduates across UBC on June 1
On June 1, Operational Excellence hosted its biannual ceremony event at The Performance Theatre in The Nest to celebrate our most recent Lean Six Sigma Yellow and Green Belt graduates, who completed a rigorous program to become officially certified as Lean Six Sigma practitioners.
CRA prescribed interest rate remains at 5% for Q3 2023
The CRA Prescribed Interest Rate will be 5%, in effect from July 1, 2023 to September 30, 2023. This is the interest rate used to calculate taxable benefits for employees from interest-free and low-interest loans, which will have an effect on future loans made under the Faculty Home Ownership Program.

Safety & Risk Services’ Emergency Management team will be hosting a Mass Care Open House on June 28, 2023. This event is an opportunity for key responding staff to familiarize and problem-solve the mass care planning done to date. Mass Care is the provision of food, water, shelter and services to displaced people in a major emergency.
Matheus Thom Vasconcelos joins Treasury as Senior Treasury Analyst
In his new position, Matheus will assist the team in delivering analytical support for strategic initiatives across campus as well as supporting UBC’s cash forecasting and liquidity analysis.
Realignment of roles within Financial Service & Strategic Procurement
Over the years, Financial Service & Strategic Procurement within Finance & Operational Excellence have been working with faculties and administrative units to look for opportunities to improve levels of service across the university. In order to improve our service level and standardize processes to better support the faculties, we will be realigning our structure.
