UBC Investment Management releases 2022-23 Performance Results

UBC Investment Management is pleased to release FY22-23 performance highlights on behalf of the funds the firm manages: the UBC Main Endowment Pool and the UBC Staff Pension Plan (SPP). All results as of March 31, 2023.

Every year, the university provides a summary report for each endowed fund to the designated donor contact. The 2023 University of British Columbia (UBC) Endowment Summary Report is now available on The University Endowment page, or on the give UBC website.

Celebrating the successful delivery of Workday Adaptive training

Last week, the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and the Workday Adaptive Project team celebrated the successful delivery of the Workday Adaptive training series with a graduation celebration with virtual certificates, sparkling juice — and of course, no celebration would be complete without a graduation cake!

Over the last 3 months, I’ve met with teams from across the VPFO, most recently with our new VPFO Project Management Team. Through these conversations one thing is always abundantly clear: what we do in the VPFO matters — deeply — to the success of UBC.

Samuel Akindele joins Facilities’ Municipal Services as Trades 3 Mechanic

Samuel has over 15 years of experience as Heavy Duty Mechanic. He joins UBC most recently from BC Ferries where he worked as Marine Engine Mechanic, and was responsible for Engine Overhauling, Rad Drives, and Pumps.

Leveraging Smartsheet for project planning and tracking

VPFO Project Management Office uses Smartsheet, a modern project and work management tool, to manage project plans, track deliverables and report on key project milestones. Safety and Risk Services (SRS) within the VPFO has also recently embraced these tools to empower its team members in project delivery.

New Asbestos Awareness course available for UBC community

Developed by Safety & Risk Services, the newly launched Asbestos Awareness course is designed to enhance faculty, staff and student workers’ knowledge about asbestos as facilities on the Point Grey Campus built before 1990 may contain asbestos.

Enhancing operations and safety: BRDF control room & office renovation

As part of an effort to enhance operations and safety, the Bioenergy Research Demonstration Facility (BRDF) control room and office have recently been renovated. The purpose of this renovation was to modernize the BRDF control room and personnel quarters.

Quarterly Update as of June 2023: Lean Six Sigma progress across UBC

We partner with UBC’s Sauder School of Business to deliver Lean Six Sigma training for beginners, seasoned professionals, and leaders at UBC. As of June 2023, a total of 844 certifications have been issued through the program and many Lean Six Sigma practitioners are currently delivering continuous improvement projects across UBC.
