February is Black History Month

Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month events and festivities that honour the legacy of Black Canadians and their communities. This year, the theme for Black History Month is: “February and Forever: Celebrating Black History today and every day,” which focuses on recognizing the daily contributions that Black Canadians make to Canada.

Rebecca Way joins UBCO Financial Operations as Procurement Manager

In her new role, Rebecca will be responsible for leading the local procurement team in the delivery of procurement services to the Okanagan campus, as well as actively engaging the campus community to increase understanding of procurement policies and workflows, implement best practices, and increase adoption of procurement processes.

Potential project delays dues to staffing shortage

Our Facilities teams, consultants, and contractors are experiencing labour shortages, and doing the best we can to maintain service and ensure all our projects and construction sites continue to be monitored. Some of our projects, however, may be impacted and face delays in the completion date.

Teela Narsih promoted to Advisor, Safety Program Management & Systems in Safety & Risk Services

Teela began her career at UBC in 2015 where she has been an Occupational and Research Safety Associate with a focus on the development and implementation of the university’s safety program. Over the last 6 years, she has been instrumental in redesigning and updating SRS’ safety training.

T4/T4A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Available for Faculty and Staff

A FAQ has been created to answer any questions the community may have about T4/T4A tax slips. The FAQ also includes information on understanding and locating your tax slips.  

UBC strongly recommends the use of medical masks as a face covering when possible

UBC will be providing a supply of medical grade masks to all students, faculty, and staff starting February 7th. A supply will be provided to Faculties and Departments. Additionally, UBC representatives on campus will be handing out packages of medical grade masks. You can recognize these representatives by their colourful vests.
