Finance & HR IRP Benefits Realization Management to cease monthly reporting in April 2023

Since 2020, Integrated Renewal Program’s Benefits Realization Management (IRP BRM) has been providing visibility into UBC’s journey towards achieving the benefits of implementing Workday HR and Finance. Now in its third year and with the current fiscal year coming to a close, IRP BRM will wind down and cease monthly tracking and reporting at end of FY22/23.

Welcome Frank Laezza!

Today marks the official start of Frank Laezza’s tenure with UBC as our new Vice-President Finance & Operations. As a strong believer in connected leadership, Frank is looking forward to working with the VPFO team of 1400+ people in the oversight of UBC’s core financial, facilities, and safety functions, across both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses.

Quarterly Update: Lean Six Sigma progress across UBC

As of March 2023, a total of 792 certifications have been issued through the program and many Lean Six Sigma practitioners are currently delivering continuous improvement projects across UBC. View your faculty or unit’s progress with Lean Six Sigma completion on the Operational Excellence website.

Growing our capabilities and strengthening the Treasury team

With the transition of Holly’s maternity leave, Treasury has taken this as an opportunity to grow the capabilities and knowledge of the Treasury team, and strengthen the team’s ability to provide value-added service and advice across UBC. Daylight Savings time can affect workplace health & safety

A reminder that Daylight Savings Time is taking place this weekend on Sunday, March 12th where we “spring ahead” and advance our clocks forward by one hour. This means that we will all wake up one hour earlier than normal. Help your body prepare for the time difference by considering these tips.

UBC launches new programs to help tackle cybersecurity risk

UBC launches the Compliance Support Program and the Privacy Matters Champions Program to help mitigate information security risk. A major cybersecurity breach has the potential to seriously hamper UBC’s operations, reputation and position as a world-class institution, as well as cause harm to individuals who have entrusted UBC with their personal information.

Pera Hardy joins the Facilities Planning team in Infrastructure Development as Senior Facilities Planner

Pera is a registered architect (AIBC) and LEED Green Associate, Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC). Her programming, planning, design and construction experience in K-12 schools and post-secondary projects will be very beneficial to facilities planning work on campus.

Frank Laezza — Get to Know UBC’s new Vice-President Finance & Operations

It would be difficult for anyone to argue that Frank Laezza isn’t willing to go the distance for UBC. Fresh off a flight from Perth, Australia, he quite literally came from the opposite side of the planet to take up his post as the university’s new Vice-President, Finance & Operations.
