Vancouver will continue to see warmer than average temperatures

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Metro Vancouver for the rest of today June 27, 2022 with inland temperatures reaching 34 degrees. Given the current high temperatures, we wanted to provide some resources and information to help you stay cool and safe.

June Update: UBC’s progress with Lean Six Sigma Training

Since our last update in March, Operational Excellence has coached one additional cohort of managers and leaders through the Sponsor Leadership Training, and two cohorts of staff through yellow belt training.

Tomisin Bolorunduro joins Privacy and Information Security Management (PrISM) as Senior Advisor, Information Security Compliance, in Safety & Risk Services.

Tomisin is a Security Compliance professional who came to us most recently from Trulioo, a tech unicorn start-up in online identity verification. Her legal background, interest in technology, and curious mind will make her a valuable asset to the PrISM team.

Ken Sham joins UBC’s Financial Operations as the Manager, Contract and Supplier Management

Reporting to the Associate Director, Procurement Partnerships, Ken will be responsible for developing UBC’s contract management processes, practices and technologies to manage the university’s contracts and partnerships with our largest and most strategic suppliers.

Self-Isolation and ending isolation for COVID-19

Information on ending self-isolation if you tested positive and are managing your illness at home have been posted our Safety & Risk Services website. Self-isolation essentially means keeping away from others to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Indigenous People’s Day – June 21 

June is National Indigenous History Month and June 21 the National Indigenous Peoples Day – reminders to “recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples”.

Conor Cregg-Guinan and Denise Tang step into their new roles as Acting Operations Manager in Custodial Services within Facilities

Conor will look after the dayshift custodial operation, and assist with design reviews as well as implementation of the units workloading/QA platform, while Denise will own all processes relating to contracted vendors and services, the utility worker crew, and implementation of the Custodial Services asset management plan.
