UBC Launches Workday Assistant Chat Tool

The Office of the Chief Information Officer and VP Finance & Operations are pleased to announce the launch of Workday Assistant in Workday.

Workday Assistant is a conversational chatbot tool for faculty, staff and student employees to optionally use when logged in to Workday. It appears as a chat interface accessible in the bottom right corner from any screen in Workday where you can enter short, informal queries for Assistant to help you find information and access tasks and reports quickly.

We rigorously evaluated the tool’s privacy and security features to ensure it meets UBC’s standards and aligns with our commitment to safeguarding our community’s information and promoting a secure, responsible digital environment.

Try out Workday Assistant today

  • Submit a time off request directly in the chat window – type ‘time off’ or ‘vacation request’
  • Ask Assistant to share details of your current payslip – type ‘payslip’ or ‘my pay’
  • View the details of your dependents or benefits – type ‘dependents’ or ‘benefit plan’
  • Need to be reimbursed for an expense? Type ‘submit expense’ or ‘create expense report

Or, click on the list of ‘Suggested Capabilities’ to see a full list of tasks it can help you with, based on your role at UBC.

See Workday Assistant in the Workday Knowledge Base for more guidance with using the tool.

As part of UBC’s Strategic Plan to transform and renew university-level systems and processes to facilitate collaboration, innovation and agility, Workday Assistant brings the benefits of artificial intelligence and machine learning to build efficiency and innovation within Workday for the UBC Vancouver and Okanagan campus communities.

We are excited to watch the adoption of Workday Assistant across UBC and see the tool evolve through its interactions with employees and through refinements made by Workday.
